This magnificent vintage East-Asian jade pendant has been expertly carved from a large piece of single jadeite. The stone is glossy and smooth, exhibiting a soft green hue and natural grain, with flowing, organic patterns and pierced detailing, reminiscent of plants curling and climbing around the shutters of an ancient pavilion.
A stone steeped in legend and mystique, jade has captivated civilizations for millennia with its strength, luminous polish, and serene green glow. Treasured above all in East Asia, it was hailed as the “gem supreme”, the “jewel of Heaven”, believed to bestow wisdom, prosperity, and longevity upon those who wore it.
Suspended from an 18ct yellow gold loop, this fabulous vintage jadeite pendant reflects the mid-century fascination with East Asian aesthetics. It’s remained in pristine condition and is a wonderful piece of art waiting to be hung from a gold chain once more.
