A grand antique Edwardian Albert chain made up of solid sterling silver curb links that lead to a T-bar at the bottom. Each is stamped with a sterling lion mark and gilded in a bright 18ct yellow gold.

Albert chains were named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first world war who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.

It's a solid chain with a good weight and bears Birmingham hallmarks dating to 1910. It’s fitted with two claw clasps so it can be worn as a traditional Albert or worn as a necklace.
