Dating from the mid 19th Century, this exquisite antique Victorian Scottish bow brooch is fashioned in silver and inlaid with natural banded Scottish agates, cut and polished carefully to fit the bows distinct shape. Each stone is unique and naturally formed, displaying earthy grey, white, brown and red stripes.

Scottish agate jewellery rose to popularity during the Victorian period, particularly after Queen Victoria herself embraced it following her frequent visits to Scotland and Balmoral castle. Pieces like this were often pinned to a lapel or bodice as a decorative statement, representing the wearer’s connection to Scotland, with the bow motif also symbolising an eternal, loving bond.

Today, this Scottish agate brooch is a beautifully preserved Victorian treasure, rich in history and meaning, making it perfect for antique collectors or anyone who adores the alluring natural beauty of Scottish agates.
