A superb antique Georgian fob pendant set with a deep orange carnelian seal with a carved intaglio in the centre, depicting a Coat of Arms with a small statant lion and a larger rampant lion on top, both commonly representing strength and nobility in heraldry.

Fob pendants were originally worn alongside a gentleman’s pocket watch and often featured an engraved intaglio seal underneath depicting an image, phrase, or monogram that was significant to the owner and could be stamped into sealing wax on important documents or even love letters to distant sweethearts. They’re highly collectable today and look wonderful on the end of a chain.

The seal is inlaid in an 18ct gold base with curved arches rising to the loop. It dates to the early 19th Century and is in excellent condition.
