An exquisite antique Victorian Bohemian garnet necklace from the late 19th Century, consisting of flower-shaped links and seven floral droppers, decorated with clusters of faceted rose cut bohemian garnets that glow bright red in the light.
Bohemian garnet jewellery is desired for its abundance of rose cut garnets, also known as pyrope crystals. They were originally sourced in the region of Bohemia, which later became the Czech Republic and were highly sought after across Europe in the late 19th Century with their crimson red flame associated with passion and enduring love.
The links are fashioned in a gold composite, known as “garnet gold”, and held by a secure box clasp, with a matching cluster of garnets on top. It’s a fabulous Victorian necklace, all in excellent condition and perfect for a glamorous evening do.
