A glamorous antique Victorian pendant adorned with a large oval cut amethyst in the centre with a matching pear cut amethyst dropper below. Both have a deep, regal purple hue and are haloed by scrolling, filigree metalwork and a ring of alternating amethysts and seed pearls that chase around the border and up the bale.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
It’s a fabulous Victorian design, skilfully crafted in 9ct gold. It dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition.
