A sweet antique Victorian locket from the late 19th Century featuring a high-relief belt and buckle loop on the front with fine chased patterning on both sides, including depictions of ivy and forget me nots on the back.
Belt and Buckle motifs were a popular romantic token in the Victorian era with their infinite loop and secure buckle perfectly representing a strong, eternal bond. Similarly, forget me nots were also symbolic of everlasting love and were often paired with ivy leaves which represented an unbreakable bond.
The locket is fashioned in 18ct gold and is complete with an original window and rim on the left side, but a second can be added to the right as well. It’s a beautiful antique find with a wonderful sentiment attached.
