An exquisite vintage coral cameo ring, showcasing a beautiful high-relief cameo centrepiece, carved from natural salmon-pink coral. The cameo depicts a classic Roman-style profile of an elegant woman with detailed hair engraving, topped with a flower headpiece.
Coral is produced naturally in the depths of the ocean over thousands of years by tiny marine invertebrate known as polyp. It has long been worn as a protective talisman and exhibits fiery shades of pink, orange and red, making them a colourful alternative to other ocean treasures such as pearls.
The cameo is framed in a robust 14ct gold bezel mount, with a scalloped, open-work border and split shoulders leading into the band. This is a truly exceptional mid-century statement ring, all in great condition with a fabulous coral cameo on top, carved by a true master of the art.
