A stunning antique Edwardian amethyst solitaire ring bestowed with a regal, oval-cut amethyst in the centre, weighing approx. 4 carats. It exhibits a sumptuous, deep-violet hue and is bezel set in a 9ct gold mount with three twinkling old-cut diamonds chasing down platinum shoulder accents (approx. 0.20ct total).
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The piece dates to the early 20th Century and would make a gorgeous engagement ring with a striking amethyst crowned on top.
