A wonderful antique Edwardian bar brooch from the turn of the 20th Century fashioned in 9ct gold with a small spider on top, consisting of two clear blue paste stones that simulate aquamarines.
During the late 19th Century many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the vast urbanisation of Great Britain. This brought about an abundance of romanticised Insect and spider pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to emphasise the beauty and value of nature.
The piece is in excellent condition and would look right at home pinned to a lapel.
