Dating to the late 19th Century, this delightful antique Art Nouveau opal pearl pendant/ brooch is a fine example of Victorian craftsmanship. Fashioned in 9ct yellow gold, the meticulously crafted open-work gallery consists of graceful, foliate motifs and is decorated with an array of natural seed pearls and five natural cabochon opals, with one dangling from a dropper at the end. They exhibit a colourful spectrum of colours that change with the light and together total approx. 1.1ct.

Opal is the birthstone of October and is considered a stone of luck, creativity, and passion. Its enchanting spectrum of colours and ethereal quality, known as “opalescence”, flow across the surface of the stone as if alive and evoke the natural beauty of a fractured rainbow or the Aurora Borealis dancing against the night sky.

Wear this fabulous Victorian opal pearl pendant on the end of a chain or use the pin at the back to fasten it to your bag, lapel or scarf as a brooch. However, you wear it, it’s sure to be admired and is destined to become a favourite in your jewellery collection!
