A sweet antique Victorian locket, modelled in sterling silver, with a beautiful bouquet of wildflowers engraved on the front, including a Forget-me-not at the top. All have been highlighted in green, yellow and rose gold, along with the frame around them.
Forget-me-nots are a symbol of love and remembrance. They were a popular motif in the Victorian period and popularly featured on lockets containing images of loved ones, as it signified that they will never be forgotten and remain forever close to the wearer’s heart.
The locket is complete with its original rims and windows within, preserving two old photographs, one of a gentleman in a military uniform, holding a Pith helmet and the other shows a charming image of a finely dressed couple sat outside together.
This wonderful Victorian locket was clearly very dear to its original owner and is in excellent condition. It bears Birmingham hallmarks on the back, along with the maker’s mark of “Edward D Wilmot”. It’s complete with a newer sterling silver cable chain to display it on, measuring 22 inches, with London import hallmarks at the clasp, dating to 1998.
