A glamorous antique Victorian opera necklace made up of black French jet beads which are lovely and smooth with scaly facets that flicker when they catch the light.
French Jet is a beautiful black glass that was used in the Victorian era to simulate real Jet which had become increasingly hard to find after it was popularised by Queen Victoria who wore the pieces as part of her mourning attire.
The beads are knotted together securely and held by a new silver claw clasp at the end that has been added over time.
