This fabulous, long antique French bar brooch is modelled in silver and features intricate workmanship, consisting of scrolling, foliate motifs decorated with an abundance of bright white, pink and green paste stones.

Jewellery displaying green, white and violet/ pink was often worn to show support for the women’s Suffrage movement in the early 1900s. The colours symbolised their core virtues: violet for loyalty, white for purity, and green for hope, and sometimes represented the acronym “Give Women Votes!”

This highly collectable paste bar brooch is in excellent condition and displays a delightful collection of coloured pastes across the front, with a long pin and French silver hallmarks at the back.
