A fabulous antique Victorian Harlequin bar brooch featuring a row of multi-coloured sapphire, topaz, spinel, tourmaline, and quartz that graduate in size from approx. 0.22ct to 0.70ct in the centre.
Harlequin jewellery is named after the colourful costumes of the 16th century comedy actors of the same name. The style was popular during the 19th Century and saw wonderful pieces of jewellery abundantly decorated with coloured gemstones.
The stones are set in a long silver gallery with a secure pin at the back. It dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition.
