This large East-Asian antique Victorian jade talisman pendant has been skilfully hand-carved from a large piece of nephrite jade and suspended from an 18ct yellow gold loop. The jade is glossy and smooth and exhibits a soft green hue and natural grain, with flowing, organic lines engraved deep into the surface, mimicking natural forms.
A stone of legend and mysticism, Jade has been valued by civilizations across the world for thousands of years due to its strength, glossy surface, and gentle green hue. It was particularly revered in China, sometimes called the “gem supreme” or “jewel of Heaven” and was believed to provide wisdom, good fortune, and long life to those who possessed it.
