This striking late Victorian locket, dating to c. 1880–1900, is fashioned in yellow gold back and front and showcases the ornate craftsmanship and Etruscan Revival influences characteristic of the Aesthetic era. Both sides are adorned with a dramatic arrangement of raised vertical fluting and beaded stripes, each culminating in crisp, arrow-pointed drops. The lower section and frame features finely engraved foliate scrollwork, adding a more natural, decorative flourish.
The locket opens to reveal both original retaining rims and clear protective windows, ready to house two cherished photographs or keepsakes. In superb condition, the intricate ornamentation remains remarkably sharp and well-defined, complemented by a rich, radiant lustre throughout. A striking example of Victorian jewellery, this tactile locket would make a wonderful addition to any antique jewellery collection.
