Beautifully preserved from the late 19th Century, this fabulous antique Art Nouveau dragonfly clip brooch was made by the renowned jewellers “Meyle & Mayer” and features a line of glistening white paste stones down the body and tail, with pink paste eyes at the head. Exceptional aqua-blue plique-à-jour enamelling has also been skilfully applied to the wings and are cleverly designed to flap up and down to open and close the four-prong clip underneath.
Founded in 1887 in Pforzheim, Germany, Meyle & Mayer were renowned for their magnificent Art Nouveau style jewellery, featuring exquisite plique-à-jour enamelwork. They were in business until the 1940s when sadly, their production came to an end during WW2. Thankfully their beautiful work has been lovingly preserved and passed down through the generations so it can still be admired today.
This beautifully designed Art Nouveau dragonfly clip brooch displays exquisite enamel workmanship and is fashioned in silver gilt with the maker’s iconic dragonfly mark stamped under the tail. It’s a rare and highly collectable piece and would look wonderful perched upon your lapel, bag or scarf.
