Dating to the turn of the 20th century, this enchanting antique Victorian "Honeymoon" brooch is crafted in 15ct yellow gold, featuring a slender crescent moon lined with luminous natural seed pearls, evoking the soft, ethereal glow of moonlight. Nestled beside it is a charming flower and bee, accented with further seed pearls, pink garnet eyes and two natural cabochon opals that display a celestial play of colour.
By pairing a sweet little bee with a delicate crescent moon, the design creates a clever visual play on words - combining "honey" (the bee) and "moon" (the crescent). These sentimental brooches were traditionally gifted by grooms to their brides as a token of a sweet, prosperous marriage and a bright new beginning together. The shimmering opals further symbolise hope, love, and good fortune, perfectly capturing the romance and symbolism so cherished during the Victorian era.
