A fabulous antique Victorian crescent brooch from the late 19th Century depicting a slender crescent moon lined with graduating blue and white pastes that graduate in size from each tip and simulate sapphires and diamonds.

Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.

The piece is modelled in sterling silver and complete with the maker’s initials on the back. It’s a wonderful statement piece and highly collectable.
