A lovely antique Victorian bar brooch made to commemorate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in 1897. It’s fashioned in 9ct gold and features the date “1897” in large numbers across the front with a crown in the centre, dotted with nine bright seed pearls.
On the 20th of June 1897, Queen Victoria celebrated her diamond jubilee, marking 60 years of service. She was the first British monarch to reach such a milestone and the day was celebrated throughout Britain, with collectable jewellery pieces commissioned to commemorate the day.
It’s a wonderful piece of Victorian history, highly collectable and in excellent condition.
