A sweet antique Victorian heart locket decorated with seven seed pearls and six pink pastes set out in gypsy star settings across the front in a fabulous checkerboard fashion.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used throughout history to simulate the beauty and sparkle of gemstones. The pink pastes resemble rubies and are symbolic of everlasting love with the pearls representing loyalty.
The shell is fashioned in a muted 15ct yellow gold and has developed a lovely smoothness and patina with age. It would make a perfect gift and is complete with rims and a window within in which two small photographs can be kept.
