A regal antique Victorian paste rivière collar necklace, decorated with twenty-four oval cut paste stones, with a deep-violet hue that perfectly replicates the beauty of an amethyst. Each paste is securely set in a closed-back silver frame, with a smooth domed back and held by a hook clasp at the end.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used throughout history to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.
This exquisite antique Victorian rivière necklace dates to the mid 19th Century and has all remained in excellent condition. It’s perfect for glamorous occasions and the beautiful purple pastes cascade gracefully around the neck, adding a touch of antique elegance to any outfit.
