A beautiful antique Victorian sapphire diamond five stone ring lined with alternating blue sapphires and old mine-cut diamonds that contrast and complement each other beautifully. The sapphires weigh approx. 0.10 – 0.20ct, with 0.06ct diamonds in-between.
Sapphire is the birthstone of September. The blue variety is considered a stone of truth, wisdom and protection and has long been a favourite of kings and royalty, adored for its royal blue colouring which was considered a reflection of the sky and the heavens, making it divine.
The piece is modelled in smooth 18ct gold and the stones are flush-set in the gallery which curves gently around the top of the finger and has engraved detailing on the shoulders. It dates to the late-19th Century and is in excellent condition.
