A sweet antique Victorian heart pendant built around a beautiful smoky quartz heart in the centre with a dark golden-brown colouring. It weighs approx. 16 carats and is bezel set in a 15ct gold gallery with ivy branches curling around the top with pearl studded leaves.
The Victorians loved romance and Ivy was one popular motif representing a loving, unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.
The piece dates to the late 19th Century and is in excellent condition. It would make the perfect antique gift for a loved one and is fitted with a pin at the back so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch.
