A beautiful antique Victorian pendant/ locket from the late 1800s pave set with cabochon turquoise across the front with a raised emblem in the centre set with further turquoise and seed pearls.

Turquoise is considered a stone of good fortune and pearls a stone of purity. They were a popular combination in the Victorian era with their soft colours complementing each other perfectly, evoking the calm and serenity of the sky and ocean.

The pendant is modelled in silver with a window and gold rim at the back containing a detailed hand-drawn portrait of a young girl with blue headband, eyes and dress that purposefully match the stones at the front. It’s the work of a skilled artist and is very lifelike and could be mistaken for a photograph.

The piece has been loved and cherished over the years and was clearly very dear to its original owner. It’s in excellent condition and complete with a long silver chain to display it on.
