This exquisite vintage buckle band ring was made in London by Fred Manshaw Ltd in 1964 and is fashioned in a bright 9ct yellow gold to depict a belt and buckle, a popular love token, symbolising a loving, unbreakable bond. It features ornate, scrolled engraving around the outside and has developed a lovely patina and smoothness over time.
Manfred Durst, a founding member of Fred Manshaw Ltd, was among the fortunate children rescued from persecution in World War II through Britain’s Kindertransport programme. Overcoming a challenging start, he established himself as a talented jeweller in London’s Hatton Garden and, in 1946, partnered with John Najmann to launch Fred Manshaw Ltd, renowned for its high-quality gold and silver wedding bands—a legacy of quality that continues to this day.
This classic 9ct gold belt and buckle ring would make a perfect vintage wedding band or gift for your beloved. It’s complete with hallmarks within the band, including Manshaw’s iconic heart mark, a reference to the legendary bleeding-heart yard where they were based.
