A grand carnelian statement ring made in Austria in the mid 20th Century. It’s built around a large cabochon carnelian with a smooth, glossy surface and deep orange-brown colouring, similar to honey.
Carnelian is a form of chalcedony, nicknamed the “Sunset stone” by the Egyptians due to its fiery orange, red or brown colouring. It has been worn throughout history as a stone of leadership and is believed to bring the strength and courage one needs to succeed.
The stone is bezel set in a magnificent 14ct gold mount with elaborate, scrolling artistry engraved around the sides and down large shoulder accents. It’s a magnificent statement piece and complete with Austrian marks within the band.
