A delightful vintage enamel bird brooch, depicting a colourful bird, perched on a branch, singing to her nest of three bright pearl eggs. It’s skilfully crafted in 18ct yellow gold and features detailed engraving and beautiful Guilloche enamelling, that is glossy and smooth with a rich palette of vibrant colours.
Guilloche enamel dates to the 17th Century and became increasingly popular in the 19th Century. The process involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or “Rose Machine” into a decorative pattern and overlaid with a colourful enamel to create a striking and highly detailed work of art.
This charming vintage novelty brooch was made in Italy in the Late 20th Century and displays exceptional enamelling and workmanship. It’s a great collector’s piece and complete with the maker’s mark on the back, along with a strong pin and locking catch to hold it secure.
