A grand 1980s signet ring set with a vibrant blue lapis lazuli with small, specks that twinkle like stars across a night sky when they catch the light. The stone has been left blank but would have traditionally been carved with an intaglio image which could be pressed into sealing wax.
Lapis Lazuli has been prized since ancient times for its vibrant colouring and was considered a stone of the powerful and divine. Its name comes from the Persian word “Lazhuward” meaning “blue” and the Arabic word “Lazaward” meaning “Heaven” or “sky”.
The gallery is all solid 9ct gold with ornate, engraving down each shoulder. It’s a great statement piece and complete with London hallmarks which date it to 1989.
