This wonderful vintage Scottish Agate brooch has a wonderful, belt and buckle design inlaid with polished, green malachites and an orange carnelian.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
The brooch is modelled entirely in sterling silver and fitted with a pin and locking clasp at the back. It's a great collector's piece and a beautiful tribute to the Scottish pieces of the 1800s.
