A fabulous antique Victorian pearl diamond crescent moon brooch from the late 19th Century, lined with an alternating pattern of seven natural pearls and ten sparkling rose cut diamonds that graduate in size from each tip (approx. 0.60ct of diamond).

Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.

This Victorian celestial brooch is in excellent condition and is fashioned in silver with a 15ct gold back, featuring the date “July 22nd 1884”, which must have been a significant date to the original owner, perhaps the date it was given as a gift, or the date of loved ones passing.
