A wonderful antique Scottish bow brooch from the mid-Victorian era modelled in silver and inlaid with a fabulous assortment of patterned agates expertly cut to fit the loops and curves of the bow.
Scottish Pebble jewellery was at the height of popularity in the mid-1800s and saw traditional Celtic designs decorated with an abundance of coloured agates and granites. It was a personal favourite of Queen Victoria whose frequent trips to Balmoral Castle saw her return with many beautiful souvenirs that influenced the trend across Britain.
It’s a great collector’s piece that would look right at home on a lapel, showcasing a fascinating collection of natural agates.
