A fabulous pair of antique Victorian jadeite drop earrings, adorned with two intricately carved jade droppers with Chinese-inspired workmanship and floral motifs. The jade is a beautiful shade of apple green, with dark and pale veins running through. They’re held in 9ct gold filigree settings, with another carved jade stone claw set on top, with butterfly studs at the back.
A stone of legend and mysticism, Jade has been prized throughout history for its calming green colour and glossy surface. It was particularly revered in East Asia and named “The stone of Heaven” as it was believed to bring good fortune, and long life to those who possessed it.
These are a striking pair of jade earrings from the late 19th Century, both in excellent condition and look wonderful dangling from each ear.
