A spectacular pair of antique Victorian moonstone chandelier earrings fashioned in sterling silver and cased in a warm 18ct yellow gold. Each earring is abundantly decorated with luminous cabochon moonstones, emitting a captivating silvery-blue light that shimmers across the surface. The centre gallery is adorned with large moonstone droppers and is suspended from two delicate moonstone chains that join hook wires at the top.
The enchanting Moonstone derives its name from the stone’s ethereal, luminescent light that was once believed to be moonlight in solid form. In Greek mythology they were associated with Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and were said to guide you on the path to love, wisdom and new beginnings.
This bold pair of Victorian moonstone drop earrings dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition, with new hook wires fitted to the top, hallmarked Edinburgh, 2020. They look fabulous framing the face and swing gracefully, allowing the moonstones to catch the light and the eye.
