A classic antique Victorian silver locket, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1879. Both sides are beautifully chased with intricate scroll and floral artistry, including delicate depictions of Forget-Me-Not flowers. These poignant symbols of love and remembrance suggest the locket may once have been worn close to the heart as a mourning keepsake or gifted as a sentimental token during a period of separation, with photographs or a lock of hair contained within.
Fully hallmarked on the reverse, this large silver locket is a wonderful relic of Victorian sentimentality, opening to reveal two generous compartments, ready to hold your own treasured photographs or a lock of hair in the traditional Victorian manner.
