A grand antique Edwardian Albert chain from the early 1900s consisting of solid sterling silver curb links and larger, twisted figaro links, each stamped with a sterling lion passant.
A new gilded claw clasp has been added to the bottom to create one long guard chain measuring 31 inches. It currently holds a large, ornate medallion, fashioned in sterling silver with scrolling, foliate engraving and a crown on top with a yellow gold-plated shield in the centre.
The medallion looks to have been presented as an award and features an inscription on the back that reads “Presented to – Bro – F. Howard – P.D.P – By the D.M.U.O.O.O.F”. It’s also complete with Birmingham hallmarks, dating to 1912.
A wonderful antique chain that was very dear to its original owner and has been kept in pristine condition.
