An exquisite antique Victorian locket from the late-1800s fashioned in 9ct gold back and front with detailed, scrolling artistry and forget-me-nots chased on both sides, symbolising love and remembrance.
The locket opens at the back to reveal two windows within, one containing an original hand painted tintype photograph of a finely dressed Victorian gentleman with gold buttons.
Tintype photographs were introduced in 1856 and saw photographs exposed on a thin sheet of metal coated in a dark lacquer or enamel to create a durable image that would stand the test of time.
It’s highly collectable and would look perfect on the end of a gold chain.
