Measuring an ample 35.5 inches in length, this long antique Art Deco sautoir chain is a fabulous example of 1920s fashion. Crafted in sterling silver throughout, it features a series of open geometric links, each centred with delicate filigree work and accented with applied rose gold diamond motifs, creating a desirable two-tone aesthetic.
Long sautoir chains became an especially fashionable accessory during the 1920s, perfectly complementing the sleek, elongated silhouettes and liberated fashions of Flapper fashion. They were prized for their movement and versatility, adding an elegant yet distinctly modern touch to the era's evening and daywear.
This versatile silver sautoir chain has been preserved in excellent condition and is held securely by a ring clasp, stamped “Sterling”. It can be worn long as a single, elegantly draped strand, or doubled around the neck to create a stylish two-strand necklace.
