An elegant antique Edwardian lavaliere necklace adorned with a fabulous pendulum dropper consisting of a large oval and pear cut amethyst, surrounded by five white cultured pearls, with a gold bar connecting the two. Both amethysts have a desirable deep violet hue and weigh approx. 2.7ct and 9ct at the bottom.
Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The pendant settings are crafted in 9ct yellow gold and join a fine 9ct cable chain. It dates to the early 1900s and has remained in excellent condition.
