A sweet antique Edwardian locket from the early 1900s featuring a spiralling guilloche enamel face with a magical golden shimmer that glides across the pale blue backdrop.
Guilloche enamel dates to the 17th century and became increasingly popular in the Victorian era. The process involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or “Rose Machine” into a decorative pattern and overlaid with a colourful enamel to create a striking and detailed work of art.
The face is overlaid with a colourful, hand painted enamel wreath, decorated with pink roses and topped with a purple bow, together symbolising eternal, everlasting love.
The shell is crafted in silver with a yellow gold gilt finish. It’s remained in excellent condition and is the perfect place to store those cherished family photos.
