A marvellous antique Edwardian fob pendant featuring a large, faceted glass stone with a deep purple hue that perfectly emulates the beauty of a natural amethyst. The three-sided stone is unmarked and suspended between an engraved 9ct gold arch so that it can be rotated a full 360 degrees.
Fob pendants were originally worn alongside a gentleman’s pocket watch and often featured an engraved seal so that a signature image, phrase, or monogram could be stamped into sealing wax on important documents or love letters to distant sweethearts. They’re highly collectable today and look wonderful on the end of a chain.
It’s a wonderful antique find, in excellent condition and complete with Chester hallmarks which date it to 1910.
