This substantial antique Arts and Crafts heart pendant dates to the early 20th century and is centred around an enormous, faceted rock crystal heart, expertly cut to capture and reflect the light with a pure, icy brilliance. It’s suspended from a long silver drop, adorned with a faceted crystal sphere at its centre, while an elegant arrangement of sculpted silver mallow leaves wraps organically around the top, lending the piece a wonderfully naturalistic quality.
The design is possibly attributed to Amy Sandheim, the celebrated British silversmith and designer during the Arts and Crafts movement. Her work was renowned for incorporating large gemstones alongside flowing botanical motifs and the mallow leaves here represent nurturing, affection, and being “consumed by love,” adding a deeply romantic sentiment to the piece.
Striking, distinct, and highly collectable, this exceptional crystal heart pendant has been well-preserved throughout the centuries and was likely once treasured as a sentimental love token, worn close to the heart. Gift it to a loved one and let its romantic story continue to grow into the next century.
