A fabulous antique Suffragette pendant from the early 1900s fashioned in silver and decorated white cultured seed pearls and pink and green paste stones that form a flower in the centre.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The gallery has a wonderful Art Nouveau design with open, filigree workmanship and three droppers, creating a striking statement piece that is very feminine and perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the movement.
