An exquisite antique Georgian mourning pendant from the early 1800s featuring a display of plaited blonde hair preserved behind glass window. It was kept in remembrance of a deceased loved one from long ago so that a piece of them was always kept close to the wearers heart.
The gallery is all 18ct gold and the window is framed by seed pearls, representing tears and twelve flat cut garnets, with a luxurious red wine-coloured hue to symbolise everlasting love (approx. 7.2ct total).
It was clearly very dear to its original owner and has been beautifully preserved over the centuries. It likely started out as brooch but has been fitted with a new loop over time, creating the fabulous pendant we have here today.
