An exquisite antique Saint Esprit collar necklace made in France in the early 19th Century (Circa 1830). The piece is crafted in silver and decorated with glistening clear paste stones across the length, leading to a fabulous Saint Esprit dropper in the shape of a dove with a red paste eye.

Saint Esprit translates to the “Holy Ghost” and was a popular symbol in France during the 18th and 19th Century. It depicts a dove in flight, often carrying an olive branch of peace to represent the holy spirit.

The open-work links are beautifully ornate with leaf and floral motifs running throughout, leading to two loops at the top complete with French silver boar marks. It’s in excellent condition and held together by a lovely black ribbon at the top which was the style at the time so the length could easily be adjusted.
