An exquisite antique Georgian flower cluster ring, featuring a beautiful mosaic of sky-blue turquoise and lustrous natural pearls, harmonising to evoke the tranquillity of the sky and ocean. The band is also ornately engraved with floral motifs and is fashioned in a bright 18ct yellow gold, with a small round locket concealed at the back, fitted with a secure glass window and rim, preserving a sheet of plaited brown hair.
Turquoise is often associated with the Forget-me not due to its similar sky-blue colouring and together with pearls, symbolise enduring love and fidelity. It was also a popular motif on Georgian Mourning jewellery that sometimes included a commemorative lock of the deceased’s hair so that a piece of them remained forever close.
Dating to the early 19th Century, this sweet Georgian turquoise pearl cluster ring is a rare find and has been beautifully preserved. It was clearly a beloved heirloom and is a great collector’s piece for admirers of Georgian history, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and a delightful collection of calming blue and white gems.
