This wonderful antique Victorian Scottish agate brooch is modelled in silver and inlaid with five polished natural agates cut to fit the brooches unique design, resembling an abstract bow. They exhibit the stones characteristic earthy tones and intricate, banded patterns that are naturally formed and distinct to each stone.

Scottish Pebble jewellery grew in popularity in the mid-1800s and saw traditional Celtic designs decorated with an abundance of coloured agates and granites. It was a personal favourite of Queen Victoria’s whose frequent trips to Balmoral Castle saw her return with many beautiful souvenirs that influenced the trend across Britain.

Dating to the mid-19th century, this exquisite Victorian Scottish agate brooch has remained in excellent condition. A great piece for collectors of Victorian heritage, with a mesmerising display of polished natural agates along the front.
