A beautiful antique Victorian Kingfisher brooch depicted mid-dive with wings outstretched, ready to catch a fish. He’s modelled in silver and features realistic feathered engraving across the front, overlaid with glossy blue, green, white and brown guilloche enamelling, with added polka dots across the wings and head.

Guilloche enamel dates to the 17th Century and became increasingly popular in the Victorian era. The process involves metal carefully worked by a lathe, or “Rose Machine” into a decorative pattern and overlaid with a colourful enamel to create a striking and highly detailed work of art.

This fabulous Victorian novelty brooch dates to the late 19th Century and the beautiful enamelling has remained intact and in excellent condition. It would make a wonderful antique lapel clip with a secure pin and locking catch at the back to hold it secure.
