A sweet little antique Victorian heart locket made in Birmingham in 1886. The shell is fashioned in 9ct gold with a beautiful ivy leaf pattern chased across the front and further foliate motifs on the back.
Ivy was a popular motif on lockets in the 1800s and represented a loving, unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.
It would make a perfect gift for a loved one and is complete with rims and windows within for two photographs and hallmarks on the reverse.
